Can you believe it is already November? It was warm last week and now it is freezing this week. We’ve even had some snow on the mountains.

Election Day, November 8 is coming up. These elections are known as the midterm elections.

Local elections have a great impact on our daily lives, and this year there are major items on the ballot, for Orem residents in particular. These are the elections that bring your voice to the elected officials and determine the future of your community.

I challenge each of you to look through the ballot, research the candidates and issues, and submit your vote. There have been elections where only a handful of votes determined the final outcome.

Once you’ve filled out your ballot, you can mail it in or drop it off at a Utah County dropbox. Visit utahcounty.vote for answers to any questions you might have.

I ran for office because I was tired of hearing people complain about various changes in the direction Orem, but they never did anything about it. This is your chance to have your voice be heard. To be part of the process that moves our community forward in the best way possible.

No matter the outcome of the election, we need to come together as neighbors to support our city. Let’s all try harder not to let disagreements divide us.

Sharon Salzberg said, “Voting is the expression of our commitment to ourselves, one another, this country and this world.”

I encourage you to do your research and get out and vote! Have a great November!
