Concrete – On average, City crews pour 500 yards (5,000 lineal ft.) of cement each year.
Sidewalk Replacement – Replacement of hazardous sidewalk, curb, and gutter
This work is generally done in areas that have been identified as needing replacement and are categorized “Extreme” or “High” by the sidewalk management program. This work is also schedule in coordination with planned road maintenance and can be scheduled at any time. Crews remove concrete, improve and re-compact base layer, place forms (improving any drainage issues), and pour concrete. Typically, crews prepare the area in the afternoon and place new concrete the following morning.
Cross gutter replacement – Replacement of hazardous or dysfunctional cross gutters
This work is generally done in areas that have been identified as needing replacement and are categorized “Extreme” or “High” by the sidewalk management program. This work is also schedule in coordination with planned road maintenance or the Storm Water Management program. This work can also be scheduled at any time. Crews remove concrete, improve and re-compact base layer, place forms (improving any drainage issues), and pour concrete. Typically, crews prepare the area in the afternoon and place new concrete the following morning.
New Installation – Installation of new sidewalk
This work is generally done in areas where the property has already been developed but has no sidewalk. Crews remove any native soil, place sub base and base layers, place, and pour concrete. Typically, crews prepare the area in the afternoon and place new concrete the following morning. Currently there is no funding in this area.
Sidewalk Milling – Milling of trip hazards commonly caused by heaving or settling. This work is a temporary fix for identified trip hazards caused by the uneven concrete. Milling is done when the concrete joints are uneven between two sections of sidewalk. Measurements of ½ inch to 2 inches are milled down at an 8 to 1 slope. Crews typically will be sent to an area to work the entire neighborhood. They will inspect each section, milling as needed, and record their work as they pass.
ADA Ramp Installation – Installation of a new or upgraded ADA Ramp
This work is generally done in coordination with planned road maintenance or by citizen request for the disabled. Crews remove concrete, improve and re-compact base layer, place forms (improving any drainage issues), pour concrete, and place new ADA Tile. Typically, crews prepare the area in the afternoon and place new concrete the following morning.
Miscellaneous – This includes all other miscellaneous work such as pads, driveways, boxes, foundations, other sections, etc.
