You’ve probably noticed over the past two years that we have significantly increased the quality and number of our city events. Whether it’s the big annual events like Oremfest and Lights On, or ongoing gatherings like our concert series or Orem Farmers Market –Orem is all in on community events.

As your Mayor and City Council, we truly believe in the power of community events to bring us all together as residents of this great city. Our mission as elected officials is to create an environment where families can thrive and community events play a critical role in making that vision a reality.

We invest so much time and effort into our city events because they foster connections among families and neighbors, build a more cohesive community, and build relationships of trust and understanding. We have even seen public health benefits from community events as they reduce feelings of isolation and improve mental wellness by promoting a sense of belonging.

Over the course of the next 12 weeks, we have a lot of amazing free city events for you to enjoy with your family and friends. Here’s a quick rundown for you:

    • The, “Come Together Rock Festival” – This event has been a community favorite!  Twenty-two of the best local classic rock bands take to the stage in City Center Park for two days of great music. This year they are taking this event to a new level with a car show, a community breakfast, a mini farmers market, and fireworks on Saturday night to close out the Summer.

    • The, “American Legion Post 72 Car Show” – The local Orem post of the American Legion does so much to serve our community. They deliver military rights at the funeral of every local veteran, work to support the mental health of veterans, and instill patriotism in the next generation of Americans, and this is the one chance they have each year to raise funds for those causes. Please come and support them.

    • The, “myHometown Community Resource Center Open House” – Orem was just selected as the next city to partner with the extremely successful myHometown program. This community-based initiative will help renew our neighborhoods through service, education, and connection. Come learn about this incredible new program and consider volunteering to help build a better Orem.

  • The, “9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance” – Community service events are one of the best ways to make new connections and uplift the city.  Join us for a series of service projects and drives in a nationwide effort to reclaim September 11th as a day of unity and service.

  • The, “Orem Harvest Festival” – Each year we partner with Orem Community Hospital to bring you the Orem Harvest Festival.  It is one of our favorite Fall events. What a great way to celebrate the best season in Utah with a lot of free family fun in a great fall setting. The Orem Express will be there and –you won’t want to miss it.

These are just a few of the many events we have planned for you over the next several months. To see the full list, please visit orem.org/events

I hope you’ll come out and feel the unity and lift that comes with gathering together as friends and neighbors.

I’ll see you at our next fun event and I’ll see you next month!
