Eligibility for a dismissal or credit is based upon how long your registration has been expired. 

Vehicle was registered prior to receiving my citation.

 If this is the case, then if you can provide proof within 20 days of receiving the citation, you may be eligible for dismissal.    

Vehicle was less than 2 months past due at time of citation and I have brought it current with DMV.

If this is the case, then you may be eligible for a dismissal if you can provide this proof within 20 days of receiving the citation.  

Vehicle was 2 or more months past due at the time of the citation and I have brought it current with the DMV.

If this is the case, then you may be eligible for a $10 credit if you can provide proof within 20 days of receiving the citation.  Make sure to follow up to make sure this proof was received and to make payment arrangements for the balance of the fine.  

What needs to be submitted for proof?

Submit your Vehicle Registration Certificate from the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).    This certificate needs to match the vehicle listed on the citation, and should have receipt information on it indicating when you payed for your registration.

Don’t have proof or would prefer to pay to close?  

Most registration violations are $50.  If you don’t have proof or would prefer to pay to close the case, you can do that by going to orem.org/payments.   

Extension to submit proof?

Sometimes vehicles need to be fixed before registration can be completed.  If you want an extension for this reason or other circumstances, the clerks maybe able to give you a 30 day extension to provide proof.    To receive an extension, contact the court clerks at 801-724-3900.  To avoid delinquent fees being added to your case, make sure to contact the court clerks within 20 days of receiving your citation to request an extension.
