Substantial Amendment No. 18 to the CDBG-PY 2019-2020 Annual Action Plan
In response to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant has notified the City of Orem that it will receive an allocation of $699,923.00 to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. This allocation was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, which was signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to respond to the growing effects of this historic public health crisis.
The City of Orem hereby requests public comment from residents within the community on the proposed allocation of the CDBG-CV funds. The City of Orem intends to dedicate $15,000 of the previously allocated $55.428.68 in CDBG-CV public services funding to the City of Orem Recreation Department to provide meals to an increasing amount of seniors facing food instability because of the effects of COVID-19 and $40,428.68 in Orem CDBG-CV funds to put water filling stations in target neighborhood parks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The Public Comment Period will begin on Friday, May 6, 2022, and will conclude on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 5:30 pm. The CDBG-CV proposals are available for public inspection at https://orem.org/cdbg/. If you would like to make a public comment by phone, please call (801) 229-7023. All public comments will be taken into consideration prior to sending the Substantial Amendment No. 16 to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
A public hearing will be held in the Council Chambers at 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah on June 14, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. to obtain additional comments on the use of these funds and funding recommendations.
