The Orem Fleet Section manages and maintains all of the vehicles and equipment in the City’s fleet, including trucks, patrol vehicles, fire apparatuses, and small equipment. Maintaining the fleet in-house results in lower maintenance costs for city vehicles and equipment.

The Fleet Maintenance Fund is an internal service fund that receives all its operating revenues through contributions from other departments that utilize fleet services. The assessment is based on the previous year’s usage of City vehicles and equipment. The fleet consists of 116 sedans, SUVs, and passenger vans, 99 pickup trucks and cargo vans, 46 1-ton, 2-ton, and 3-ton trucks, 30 heavy-duty trucks, 8 ambulances, 6 motorcycles, 11 firefighting trucks, and 1 bus.

Moreover, 854 other pieces of various equipment including trimmers, lawn mowers, tractors, backhoes, front loaders, sanders, welders, sweepers, generators, air compressors, etc. are maintained by fleet services, which consists of four full-time fleet mechanics, a lead mechanic, and a fleet manager.
